How to Make Streets Like Poha @ Home - Easy & Delicious Breakfast Recipe

Hi, I’m Aryan Bajaj! Welcome back to Aryan the Explorer. I enjoy discovering new things, learning about different topics, and sharing interesting information with my readers. In this post, I’m going to share a few things I found worth exploring. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

Here's a simple recipe for making Poha, a popular Indian breakfast dish:

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 2 cups poha (flattened rice)
  • 1 medium-to-large potato, peeled and cut into small cubes
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt as needed
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • A handful of fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)
Personally, I enjoy the little details that make each topic unique. While putting this post together, I wanted to keep things simple, interesting, and easy to understand, so you can take something useful away from it.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Poha
Place the flattened rice in a strainer and rinse it gently with water. Let the excess water drain away while the poha softens slightly.

2. Heat the Oil and Add Spices
Warm some oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, allowing them to release their aroma as they crackle.

3. Cook the Onions
Add the chopped onion and green chilli, if you prefer a little heat. Stir occasionally until the onion becomes soft and lightly translucent.

4. Add the Potatoes
Put the diced potatoes into the pan and cook until they become tender. Stir from time to time to help them cook evenly.

5. Season the Mixture
Sprinkle in the turmeric powder and salt. Mix thoroughly so the potatoes absorb the spices and develop a lovely golden colour.

6. Mix in the Poha
Add the softened, drained poha to the pan. Gently toss it with the potato mixture, making sure the ingredients are evenly distributed. Allow everything to cook together for another 2–3 minutes.

7. Check the Taste
Taste a small portion and add a little more salt if required. Stir gently and turn off the heat once everything is properly combined.

8. Garnish and Serve
Finish with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Serve your warm poha with lemon wedges on the side for an extra burst of freshness.

Your Homemade Poha Is Ready!

Enjoy this simple, comforting Indian breakfast with a cup of hot tea. A squeeze of lemon just before eating can make every bite even more refreshing!
